Jan 24, 2011 “I will go with you.”
Last night during the service, I began singing a song to the Lord saying, “If no one goes, I will still follow.” I kept repeating that over and over as it flowed out from the heart. I felt as though my heart was in a track with Jersey barriers on either side, not allowing me to run anywhere else but toward Him. Not even that it wasn’t allowing me, I wasn’t allowing myself, and I didn’t WANT to run anywhere else but to Him. There was a desperation, almost a panic, to be in His presence and to worship and to commune with the King. As I continued to sing in worship I began to hear him say, “I will go with you” as if He was saying, “Someone WILL go with you, Verlin. Someone will, (with a smile on His face and delight in His eyes). The sense of belonging, acceptance, awe, worth and value went through the roof that someone of His importance would go with ME. Not saying that I look at myself as a lowly snake in the grass, but when you’re in the Presence of Majesty...
It was humbling, endearing and...well, I don’t know what other words to say. I feel like it drew me closer in loyalty and devotion to this One that would go with me, as I chased after Him and His purpose for the world and all those in it. “I will go with you” has begun an inspiration in my soul that, as I meditate on it, grows inside me and allows me freedom to run. Freedom to dream, freedom to pursue Him and the Kingdom, freedom to try, and fail and keep trying. Freedom to scatter the seed that He has given (Isaiah 55:10 and 30:23) and let the responsibility for the outcome to be left up to Him. Freedom to be and freedom to do simply because “I will go with you” and because I will hear His voice as I go saying, “This is the way...” Freedom. Liberty. Life in abundance all because, in our pursuit of Him, in our chasing after Him He says, “I will go with you!” Oh the meanings of this statement, with all the different emphasis, and yet the end result is the same.
I will go with you.
I WILL go with you.
I will GO with you.
I will go WITH you.
I will go with YOU.
Let’s go.
